Justice League dispute continues: Warner hands out “Cyborg” Ray Fisher [Update: Fisher strikes back]

After serious allegations by cyborg actor Ray Fisher about the behavior of those responsible behind the DC blockbuster “Justice League”, Warner has launched an investigation. Fisher is said to be uncooperative, which he denies.

[UPDATE 09/07/2020]: Ray Fisher has contradicted Warner’s representation in the statement below. He spoke to the investigator and then wrote an email to his team and the US actors’ union, of which a screenshot is included in the tweet. But he broke off the conversation with the investigator prematurely because he had a witness on the line and Fisher first wanted to secure himself.

[UPDATE 09/07/2020]:

It’s also worth noting that I made it clear to the world on Aug 21st that I would be vetting the investigator to ensure a fair and protected process for all witnesses. @wbpictures has escalated this to an entirely different level, but I’m ready to meet the challenge.A> E 2/2 pic.twitter.com/OcOmcVZtub— Ray Fisher (@ ray8fisher) September 5, 2020

In addition, Fisher recorded a long Instagram video in which he once again criticized Warner’s statement and claimed to have evidence and witnesses to testify for him. He also attacks the former DC film boss Geoff Johns again.

Here is the original message:

After a personal stroke of fate for director Zack Snyder, he turned his back on the “Justice League” production in 2017. “Avengers” maker Joss Whedon then stepped in as a replacement to finish the film. And although everyone involved seemed happy with this temporary solution at the time, the transition was probably not that smooth.

As we already reported at the beginning of July, cyborg actor Ray Fisher Whedon and the then DC Films bosses Geoff Johns and Jon Berg accused via Twitter that they had created a toxic working atmosphere on the set with “insulting and unprofessional behavior”.

In response, Warner agreed to conduct an investigation into the allegations, which Fisher welcomed. But now the actor himself seems to stand in the way of this investigation. At least that’s what a longer statement from Warner shows that the studio has now published in response to a new tweet from Fisher in which he criticizes the current DC film boss Walter Hamada:

So you can better understand how deep this goes: After speaking out about Justice League, I received a phone call from the President of DC Films wherein he attempted to throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus in hopes that I would relent on Geoff Johns .I will not.A> E— Ray Fisher (@ ray8fisher) September 4, 2020

The tweet above states: “After I spoke up on Justice League, I got a call from the DC Films president trying to feed Joss Whedon and Jon Berg to the wolves in hoping that I’ll let go of Geoff Johns. I will not. Accountability> entertainment. “

In the said statement, Warner countered that Fisher’s allegations against Hamada were simply false and that he was not ready to speak to the hired investigator to give him his view of things. Fisher’s reasons for this are unclear, however.

Below is Warner’s full statement:

That’s what Warner says

“In July, Ray Fisher’s agents asked DC Films President Walter Hamada to speak to Mr. Fisher about his concerns about making Justice League. The two had previously spoken when Hamada-san offered to resume his role as a cyborg in the upcoming ‘The Flash’ movie, along with other members of the Justice League.

In their conversation in July, Mr. Fisher told of a disagreement he had with the film’s creative team regarding the portrayal of Cyborg and complained that his proposed script changes were not adopted. Hamada-san then stated that creative differences are a normal part of the production process and that ultimately the writer / director of a film has the say in these matters.

Mr. Hamada also stated to Mr. Fisher that he would convey his concerns to WarnerMedia [parent company of Warner Bros.] so that an investigation can be initiated. At no point has Hamada-san “fed anyone” as Mr. Fisher falsely claims, or passed any judgment on the Justice League production that Hamada-san was not involved in because it was filming before he took up his current post.

Although Mr. Fisher never alleged that there was criminal misconduct against him, WarnerMedia has opened an investigation into the concerns he has raised about his character’s portrayal. Still not satisfied, Mr. Fisher insisted that WarnerMedia hire an independent outside investigator.

This investigator has tried to meet with Mr. Fisher several times to discuss his concerns. To date, Mr. Fisher has refused to speak to the investigator. Warner Bros. remains committed to the accountability and wellbeing of all cast members and crew members in every production. Warner also remains committed to investigating any specific and credible allegations of wrongdoing that Mr. Fisher has not been able to bring forward. “

Can the Snyder Cut smooth things over?

If the fronts in the Justice League dispute continue to harden, it could take a while before it can be settled. But even now the whole thing offers enough material for a separate film about the moving development of the DC adventure.

Perhaps the release of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” in 2021 can at least calm the mind a little. In Snyder’s four-hour, original vision of the comic book actioner, cyborg’s role should also turn out to be much larger and even become the centerpiece of the film 123movieshd.
